Can I Be Hypnotized?

Can I Be Hypnotized?Can I Be Hypnotized?

Have you ever used hypnosis? If not, you may be wondering, can I be hypnotized?

It is common for people to ask if they can be hypnotized. However most people don’t really know the implications of the question they are asking. Let me explain…

Many people associate hypnosis with stage shows and people singing and strutting like Elvis or Mick Jagger. The hypnotist has his volunteers under his power, and everyone is compelled to do what they are told. Is this what you associate with hypnosis?

There are 2 things wrong with this assumption…

The first is that a hypnotist can’t make people do something. Any volunteer could stop at any time – they just don’t want to. This is down to peer pressure and selection.

Volunteers know they are expected to provide a show, and go along to give people what they want. Hypnotists pick people they judge are extroverts who will enjoy the excuse of hypnosis for parading around in public.

If a hypnotist could make people do what they wanted, criminals would be learning it to make bank managers give them the keys to the vaults!

It’s not all crooning and cluckingCan I Be Hypnotized?

The second is that hypnosis is not necessarily about stage antics. Many people associate all hypnosis with stage show antics. This is understandable as this is more interesting for mainstream media. Therapeutic hypnosis, or hypnotherapy, is very different.

It is no where near as exciting from a visual aspect, but FAR more exciting for what it can give you.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is not about force or entertainment. It’s about helping someone change in a way they want to change.

A hypnotherapist GUIDES a person into a hypnotic trance. This is a natural daydream state of mind that you slip into several times a day. It’s when you’re engrossed in a good book, TV program, or film. There is nothing magical or mystical about it.

If you don’t want to go into a trance, it is VERY easy to resist a hypnotherapist.

Hypnotherapists are there to help you. If you co operate then you will almost certainly slip into a relaxing hypnotic trance. It is NOT a competition of wills.

Types of people

Some types of people find it easier to slip into a trance than others. However everybody is capable.

The more relaxed and creative people usually find it easier. However given a little practice, anyone can enter this state of mind. It gets easier the more you do it.

Final thoughts

So to answer the question can I be hypnotized, – yes you can be hypnotized. It cannot be done against your will, but if you co operate, you can enjoy a relaxing experience with therapeutic benefit. A hypnotherapist will not have you clucking like a chicken. It is more like meditation.

Hypnotherapy helps shake your old limiting thoughts and beliefs, and replace them with empowering ones. It can also help you drop bad habits, lose weight, gain confidence, and a number of other things. These things can lead to a vast improvement in the quality of your life.
